Synopsis
## Fate/Zero
*Fate/Zero* is the dark, morally complex prequel to the Fate/stay night franchise — and for many fans, its finest entry. Produced by ufotable with meticulous attention to visual quality, it is one of the best-looking anime of its era.
Set ten years before Fate/stay night, the Fourth Holy Grail War sees seven mages (Masters) and their summoned legendary Servants battle to the death for the Holy Grail — an artifact said to grant any wish. Among them is Kiritsugu Emiya, a ruthless freelance mage-killer with an idealistic dream of world peace, and his Servant Saber — the legendary King Arthur. The series deliberately subverts the heroic fantasy genre by portraying all sides with moral complexity and showing the horrific costs of conflict. Gen Urobuchi's script is relentlessly dark and philosophically rich.
