Synopsis
## Great Teacher Onizuka
*Great Teacher Onizuka* (*GTO*) is one of the most enduring comedies in anime history — a boisterous, warm-hearted classic that has inspired countless "unconventional teacher" stories but has never been surpassed in its combination of outrageous comedy and genuine emotional depth.
Eikichi Onizuka is a 22-year-old ex-biker gang leader and virgin who, after a teenage humiliation involving a girl dating his teacher, develops the dream of becoming Japan's greatest teacher to meet women. Despite zero qualifications and grades that would embarrass a middle-schooler, he talks his way into a teaching position at a prestigious private school. He's assigned Class 3-4 — the worst class in the school, notorious for psychologically breaking teachers and driving them out. What follows is Onizuka using a combination of fist-fighting, blunt honesty, extreme risk-taking, and genuine compassion to reach students who have been failed by every adult in their lives. GTO is farcical and absurd, but beneath the antics lies a surprisingly sincere portrayal of teenage pain, trust, and the transformative power of someone who actually gives a damn.
