Synopsis

## Horimiya **Horimiya** (ホリミヤ) is a 2021 anime television series produced by CloverWorks, adapted from the manga by HERO (original webcomic) and Daisuke Hagiwara (manga adaptation). It stands as one of the most refreshing romance anime of the 2020s — a series that skips the prolonged "will-they-won't-they" formula and instead explores what a genuine high school relationship actually looks like once two people decide to be honest with each other. Kyouko Hori seems to have the perfect high school life: she is popular, attractive, and admired by her peers. In reality, she spends most of her time at home caring for her younger brother and doing housework while her parents are away. Izumi Miyamura seems like a quiet, unremarkable student — the kind who sits in the back and goes unnoticed. Outside of school, he has a different appearance entirely: piercings, tattoos, and a personality far warmer than his classroom demeanor suggests. When Miyamura unexpectedly shows up at Hori's home and they discover each other's hidden sides, they forge an unlikely friendship built on the shared relief of being seen. What begins as a mutual secret gradually becomes something more — a relationship handled with warmth, humor, and a maturity that sets Horimiya apart from most of its genre peers.
