## My Love Story!! *My Love Story!!* (*Ore Monogatari!!*) is a romance anime that succeeds by doing the opposite of nearly every other romance anime: it gets the couple together early, makes them deeply happy, and then finds that there's plenty of story in that happiness. Takeo Gouda is enormous — tall, heavily built, with a face that routinely terrifies the people around him. Despite being extraordinarily kind and selfless, he has never had a girlfriend. Every girl he has ever liked has fallen for his best friend Makoto Sunakawa instead — effortlessly handsome, popular, and completely uninterested in any of them. Then Takeo rescues Rinko Yamato from a groper on a train, and something unprecedented happens: she likes *him*. Not Suna. *Him*. *My Love Story!!* refuses to prolong this misunderstanding into the usual romantic comedy agony — within a few episodes the couple is together, and the show pivots to depicting what a joyful, earnest, mutually supportive relationship actually looks like. Takeo's physical comedy, Rinko's genuine warmth, and Suna's quiet loyalty make for a trio that sustains 24 episodes with the rare feeling that watching these people be happy is enough.
