Synopsis

## Overlord *Overlord* flips the isekai formula by centering the story on the villain's perspective — a skeleton overlord building an empire with monstrous companions who adore him. Seasons 1–4 (2015–2022) are complete on Crunchyroll. **Season 5 was officially announced at AnimeJapan in March 2026**, covering the "Witch of the Falling Kingdom" arc (Light Novel Volumes 14–15) with a new animation studio stepping in as Madhouse exits the project. An early-to-mid 2027 premiere window is expected. When the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil shuts down, top-tier player Momonga decides to spend its final moments logged in. As the servers go offline, something unprecedented happens: the NPC characters around him develop real personalities, and he is trapped in the game world as his skeletal wizard character. Adopting the name Ainz Ooal Gown, Momonga must navigate this new world while concealing his confusion and acting the part of the all-knowing supreme overlord his followers expect. He builds toward world domination, not out of malice, but partly because he's not sure what else to do — and because his undead body has suppressed his human emotions. Four complete seasons are available on Crunchyroll. Season 5, adapting the politically charged "Witch of the Falling Kingdom" arc, is confirmed in production with a new studio and an expected 2027 premiere.
