## Rainbow *Rainbow* is Madhouse's most harrowing production — a raw, brutally honest drama about friendship forged in the worst conditions imaginable, and one of anime's most emotionally intense viewing experiences. Set in 1955 post-war Japan, six juvenile delinquents are incarcerated in the Shio Reform School — a nightmarish institution where sadistic staff subject inmates to abuse and exploitation. In Cell 6, they find an older inmate: Mario Minakami, a former boxer who becomes their protector and spiritual anchor. The seven form an unbreakable brotherhood, supporting each other through beatings, manipulation, and despair. The series then follows their lives after release, as they navigate a broken, impoverished Japan while trying to remain true to their bond. *Rainbow* demands a great deal from its viewers and rewards them fully.
