Each arc fundamentally changes the series' scale, stakes, and thematic depth. The Dark Tournament arc in particular is widely considered one of the greatest tournament arcs in anime history — brutal, emotionally resonant, and full of spectacular fights. Togashi's ability to write complex antagonists and subvert shonen conventions gives *Yu Yu Hakusho* a depth that still surprises new viewers.
