## Assassination Classroom *Assassination Classroom* (*Ansatsu Kyoushitsu*) is one of the most inventive manga premises of the 2010s — a shonen action-comedy that uses its outlandish setup as a delivery mechanism for genuinely resonant ideas about education, potential, and what it means to be a good teacher. A bizarre, tentacled creature with a permanent grin destroys most of the moon and announces that he will do the same to Earth in one year — unless the students of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High can kill him first. The catch: he is their homeroom teacher, and he has decided to use the year to give them the best education of their lives. The government has armed the students with special weapons and offered a massive reward for his assassination. What follows is a warm, hilarious, and surprisingly moving story about a class of "problem students" — the school's rejects, dumped in an isolated building — who discover, through the alien teacher they're supposed to murder, that they are more capable than anyone believed. Koro-sensei, the unkillable octopus teacher, is one of shonen manga's most memorable characters: endlessly enthusiastic, infuriatingly perceptive, and genuinely devoted to his students' growth.
