Synopsis
## Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku
*Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku* is Yuji Kaku's visceral, imaginative action manga set in a corrupted island paradise — a series that pairs gorgeous body horror and yokai mythology with surprisingly thoughtful character work.
Gabimaru the Hollow is the most fearsome shinobi alive — cold, efficient, and believed to be incapable of feeling anything. Captured and sentenced to death, he survives every execution attempt through sheer physiological toughness. The shogunate offers him a deal: travel to Shinsenkyo, a mysterious island said to be the location of the Elixir of Life, and retrieve it. In exchange, a full pardon. Gabimaru is escorted by female executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, who has been assigned to kill him if he attempts to flee. On the island, they discover a paradise twisted beyond all recognition — forests of flesh, immortal monsters born from Buddhist and Taoist mythology, and the horrifying secret behind the "ascended" cultists who have made the island their domain. *Hell's Paradise* ran from 2018 to 2021 in Weekly Shonen Jump and was later adapted into a celebrated anime by MAPPA.
