Synopsis

## The Seven Deadly Sins *The Seven Deadly Sins* (*Nanatsu no Taizai*) by Nakaba Suzuki is a sprawling shounen fantasy manga published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 2012 to 2020, spanning 41 volumes. It inspired multiple anime seasons (2014–2021) and became one of Kodansha's flagship action fantasy properties of the decade. The Kingdom of Liones is in crisis. The Holy Knights who protect the realm have staged a coup, seizing control of the kingdom and imprisoning the king. Third princess Elizabeth flees the palace alone and goes in search of the legendary Seven Deadly Sins — a disbanded group of the kingdom's most powerful knights, said to have been corrupt traitors who tried to overthrow the kingdom a decade ago. She finds the first of them, Meliodas, running a wandering tavern. He is cheerful, seemingly ordinary, and significantly shorter than expected. He is also, when the situation demands it, terrifyingly powerful. Together, Elizabeth and Meliodas set out to reassemble the Seven Deadly Sins, uncover the truth behind their alleged betrayal, and take back the kingdom from the Holy Knights — who are not what they appear. *The Seven Deadly Sins* delivers the core pleasures of classic shounen action: escalating power battles, a vivid ensemble cast, a mythology that deepens with each arc, and a central relationship that builds from friendship into something more. Suzuki's distinctive art style — loose and expressive — is a perfect match for the series' mix of comedy and catastrophic combat.
